Tbilisi
One of the most atmospheric capitals in the world. The city's main attractions are concentrated in the Old Tbilisi district. The city is famous for its sulfur baths powered by natural hot springs. Near Shardeni Street, you will find plenty of modern, popular restaurants, outdoor cafes, trendy nightclubs, and art galleries. History mixes with modernity here.
Gori
The birthplace of Joseph Vissarionovich Jughashvili, better known as Stalin. Optional for those interested. The ancient rock-hewn town of Uplistsikhe is located 7 km away. It is considered one of the oldest settlements in the country, dating back to the 5th century BC.
Uplisciche
The oldest rock-hewn town in Georgia. Literally meaning “God's Fortress,” this ancient town carved into the rock played a significant role in Georgian history for about 3,000 years.
Mccheta
The main religious center in Georgia. The cloaks of Christ and the prophet Elijah are preserved in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Inside the building, there are also the tombs of the founder of Tbilisi, King Vakhtang Gorgasali.
Shatili
A village in northeastern Georgia near the border with Chechnya, the capital of Khevsureti. The region abounds in deep valleys dotted with watchtowers, and settlements built above mountain streams resemble real fortresses.
Jvari Monastery
Jvari Monastery is one of Georgia's most popular tourist attractions. This Georgian Orthodox monastery was built around the 4th century. The name of the church translates from Georgian as “cross.” The monastery is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Georgia.
Udabno and David Gareja
One of the most isolated villages in Georgia. The surrounding wilderness and steppe reinforce the belief that this is truly the end of the world. About 15 km from the village of Udabno, on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan, is the David Gareja monastery. The church complex was founded in the 6th century by one of thirteen Syrian monks. An additional attraction that awaits us on the way to the monastery are the colorful mountains. A visit to the Oasis Club is a must.
Sighnaghi
It is one of the most beautiful towns in Georgia, located in the wine-growing region of Kakheti. Its climate resembles that of Italian cities in Tuscany or Sardinia. Sighnaghi is called the city of love. The Wedding Palace is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Kazbegi (Stepancminda)
The Georgian Military Highway leads to Stepancminda. It is the main road from the Georgian capital Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz in Russia, running along the border with South Ossetia. The route is about 200 kilometers long, 165 of which are in Georgia, and is one of the most popular scenic routes in the country.
Truso Valley
An almost deserted valley near the border with South Ossetia. In addition to majestic mountains, there are also interesting peculiar travertine formations, mineral springs, a geyser, a mineral lake, and ancient towers. You have to turn back at the ruins of the Zakagori fortress, where the Georgian border post is located.
Vashlovani National Park
It was established in 1935 and consists of steppes, semi-deserts, swamps, and savannas, resembling those found in Africa. Many species of birds and animals live here, and you can feel like you are on a real safari.
Omalo
A mountain settlement known as the “capital” of Tusheti. The route to it leads through Abano (2,850 m above sea level) – the highest pass in the Caucasus that can be crossed by car. The road is considered one of the most dangerous in the world... and this is not an exaggeration. 18 km from Omalo is Dartlo, the most beautiful historical village in Tusheti.
Samtredia base nomads4x4.eu
