Costa Rica – Nicaragua: between volcanoes and the ocean
This is a journey through two countries where tropical rainforests meet rugged volcanoes and the intense green of the jungle contrasts with the azure beaches of the Pacific. Each day of this route brings new landscapes, new smells, and people who welcome you with the openness characteristic of Central America. Here, nature plays first fiddle — wild, untamed, and spectacular.
What to expect during the trip
Every day of the trip is different — one day we ride through tropical forests, another day we stop in volcanic towns to try local coffee and see the daily life of the locals.
This is a trip for those who want to experience the real American tropics: no filters, no rush, with adventure in the background.

Costa Rica is a land of volcanoes, rainforests, huge waterfalls, and mighty rivers. Sandy beaches, turquoise water, coconuts straight from the palm tree, sloths, monkeys, and parrots. Sleeping on wild paradise beaches and in tropical forests. Active volcanoes, a stormy ocean, fresh seafood, delicious rum. All this and much more can only be seen with us, the Nomads.

What you will see
San José
The capital and largest city of Costa Rica. In the mid-19th century, San Jose transformed from a modest and quiet town into a truly vibrant city. This is where the airport we fly into and out of is located. The first day is for arrivals, checking into the hotel, and organizational matters. On the second day, we set off on our trip from San Jose. We will visit the city, its attractions, and historical sites on the last day.
Limón Province
The Caribbean province. A natural paradise created by a combination of dense jungle, impressive mountains, and idyllic beaches. This is the best place to learn about the Afro-Caribbean culture that so strongly defines these parts of Costa Rica. A large part of the Afro-Caribbean population was forcibly brought to Limon through the slave trade. For many, this influenced the new lifestyle for which the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is famous today. The road to Limon from San Jose crosses the majestic Braulio Carrillo National Park, where a beautiful journey to the Caribbean lowlands begins.
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
This seaside town with a Caribbean vibe is located in the southeastern part of Costa Rica and is one of those fantastic places where you end up staying longer than you intended. This is where we will set off for the Cahuita Nature Reserve.
